FYI: BIG SCARY EXAMS

By: Siri Carlson,

If you thought your days of sharpened number two pencils, hermetically-sealed test packets and hours spent in an ACT examination room were over, think again. Many post-graduate programs require additional exams, including the GRE, MCAT and LSAT.

GRE: Graduate Record Examination
The GRE is required for acceptance into many graduate school programs. There are both general and subject specific GREs; the general GRE measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and analytical writing.

MCAT: Medical College Admission Test
All medical schools require applicants to take the MCAT. The MCAT is a multiple-choice exam that assesses problem solving, critical thinking, writing skills and knowledge of science concepts and principles.
