So, what do you do on and off campus?
Chi Theta Rho, Believing and Achieving, Luther Artist Collective, Luther Review, Beautiful Mess, employed at Goodwill
What’s your favorite thing about Luther?
“The feel of community. I have never been bored or felt out of place. There is something and someone for everyone here.â€
If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently?
“Nothing. You learn from your experiences and I have given myself PLENTY of things to learn from throughout my four years.â€
Any advice for new students?
“I’m going to borrow one from Nike here and say ‘Just Do It.’ Whatever it is that you are interested in here on campus, do it. Don’t worry if your parents will think you’re wasting your life by choosing an obscure major. If you like it then that’s all that matters. You are ultimately the one who has to live with it so make it something that is yours. College is where you find yourself. Just do it.â€
What are your plans for after Luther?
“Working for City Year in Los Angeles for a year and then on to grad school for my MFA in printmaking.â€
Any great Luther stories to share?
“It has been my fortune to study abroad three J-terms in a row and every trip, without fail, I ran into a Luther alum. Kinda crazy!â€

STATS:
Name: Kyle Lilly
Major: Chemistry
Hometown: Glenwood, IA
So, what do you do on campus?
Luther Track and Field, Cross Country, Concert Band, Honor Council, Lab Assistant for Analytical Chemistry, Research Assistant for Professor Claude Mertzenich
What’s your favorite thing about Luther?
“The common love of knowledge. Students here are not simply trying to earn grades but rather an education. I think the Honor Code we have at Luther is a great thing. Professors do not supervise exams because students trust each other to perform honest work.â€
Any advice for new students?
“First, pick an activity that you love and get deeply involved. You will meet lots of great people with similar interests. Academically, find study buddies right away. I would not have been able to get through the chemistry major without the help and motivation of my classmates.â€
What are your fears about graduating?
“I love the caf. You just cannot beat having three all-you-can-eat meals every day. I am very afraid of having to cook my own meals and especially doing dishes.â€
Any great Luther stories to share?
“On my campus visit I knew I would fit in at Luther when my dad and I saw the men’s and women’s swim teams running around campus yelling Luther cheers in February, wearing just Speedos.â€
