Jayber Crow hits the Marty’s stage once again
As they tour the Midwest, two-man band Jayber Crow is making a stop here in Decorah. Sponsored by KWLC, the band will perform in Marty’s Monday, Sept. 14 at 9 p.m.

Band members Zach Hawkins (‘04) and Pete Nelson are not new to the Midwest, or the Marty’s stage for that matter. They are both born-and-raised small town Midwesterners, and the band has performed at Luther twice before.
During the summer, Hawkins contacted KWLC about sponsoring a show on their fall tour. Being familiar with their music and eager to help promote the band, KWLC’s Rose Milligan (‘10) responded to Hawkins’ request.
“The people who recognize their name really like them and want them to come back,” Milligan said. “They’re sort of local and it’s cool that people really enjoy their indie folk music.”
Glad to have them for a three-peat performance, KWLC will be interviewing Jayber Crow live on-air following the show.
Milligan describes Jayber Crow’s music as jangly indie folk with bluegrass influences. Both members sing and play guitar, while Nelson also plays a mandolin.
“They’re fun, upbeat modern folk music,” Milligan said. “It’s music for our generation.”
Opening the show will be Luther’s own Andrew Prahlow (‘10) and The Wapsipinicon.
If you want to wrap up your weekend or get the week started off with a strum, catch the Jayber Crow show Sept. 14. If you miss the show, be sure to tune in to KWLC 1240 AM to hear the live interview afterward.
