Men’s Golf Team swings into 2nd place at Augsburg Invitational

The 25th nationally ranked Luther College golf team finished second at the 14-team Augsburg Invitational held Sept. 12-13 at Majestic Oaks Golf Course in Ham Lake, Minn. The Norse shot a two-round total of 601, finishing three strokes behind UW-Stout.

Luther and the University of St. Thomas were tied after the first 18 holes, shooting rounds of 298. Stout jumped from fourth place after the first day of competition to top the leader board with a sizzling round of 292.

Ross Jacobucci (‘10), Aaron Smith (‘12) and Jack McLeod (‘12) all finished in the top ten individually. Jacobucci and Smith tied for third at 147, while McLeod tied for seventh at 148.

Alex Gaudian (‘10) and Alec Schumacher (‘10) completed Head Coach Scott Fjelstul’s top five. Reid Wilson (‘10) played as an individual.

The Norse will return to action Sept. 19-20, when they play in the St. John’s University Invitational. The two-day tournament will be played in Sauk Center, Minn. and Sartell, Minn.
