Norse Tennis Attacks the Net

The Luther Women’s Tennis Team split their team for maximum playing time on Saturday, Sept. 19. As a team they posted four wins against The University of Dubuque and Carthage College (Wis.) at home, and over Buena Vista University (Iowa) and Morningside College (Iowa) in Storm Lake,
Iowa.

The tally for the team in Storm Lake was a total of 9-0 at home, the Norse dropped just one set, posting a 9-0 victory over Dubuque and a 8-1 decision over Carthage. Luther’s MVP from the 2008-2009 campaign, Alana Humpal (‘11), went undefeated on Saturday and was pleased with the team’s performance.

“We played really well and competed hard,” Humpal said. “Our season has been really successful so far.”

The victories over Dubuque and Buena Vista increased Luther’s Iowa Conference record to 4-1. The four total victories gives the Norse an overall record of 8-1.

The Norse will continue their season with road matches at Wheaton College (Ill.) this weekend.
