Luther defeats Loras 4-1, posts first conference victory
The Luther College baseball team posted its first conference win of the season April 8 here in Decorah. The Norse defeated the Duhawks of Loras College 4-1 and are now 1-6 in league play, 12-10 overall. Loras fell to 1-3, 6-11 overall.
Luther jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Zack Topping (‘10) drove in Chris Reynolds (‘12) with a single to center field. Luther added two more runs in the sixth and one in the seventh en route to the victory.
Reynolds, Mark Weber (‘10) and Kevin Bradley (‘12) were all 2-for-4 in the afternoon and led a Norse offensive attack that registered 11 hits.
Cody Hyland (‘10) pitched eight solid innings and leveled his record to 2-2. Hyland allowed six hits, walked three and struck out four.
