Softball crowned Iowa Conference tournament champions for the first time in school history

Lambert reaches 19 wins for the season on the hill

The Norse defeated Simpson College 16-6 in six innings in the championship game May 8. The Norse advanced to the title tilt after defeating the Storm 14-4 in the semifinals May 7 and posted a 4-1 decision over Central College in the quarterfinals.

Luther scored 16 runs on 16 hits, scoring every inning except the third, including a six-run sixth. In the sixth, Bre Twait (‘11) (6) hit a two-run homer, and five batters later, Abby Christian (‘12) (9) hit a grand slam.

The bottom third of the line-up produced seven of Luther’s 16 hits. Shari Huber (‘13) was 2-for-3, Twait was 3-for-4 and Kayla Denner (‘10) was 2-for-3. Lead-off hitter Anna Simonson (‘10) was 3-for-5.

Kim Lambert (‘10) (19-3) pitched the final four innings en route to the victory. Lambert allowed three runs on four hits, walked one and struck out two. Lexy Determan (‘10) was in the circle the first two frames and allowed three runs on four hits and struck out three.
