A Letter from the Editors
To Our Readers:
Much like many campus organizations, Luther Chips experiences regular changes in leadership, and this year is no exception. Each new staff builds upon the hard work of those who represented college journalism before them.
We, as the executive editors of this publication, feel that our readers should know, and have an opportunity to connect with, the people behind their paper. For this reason we would like to reiterate the guiding principles of Chips, as well as present our own journalistic values we have set for our staff and for ourselves.
As always, Chips retains three main purposes that guide and focus our work:
1. Chips is a forum for campus news and opinion, and acts as the voice of the entire Luther community.
2. Chips is the Luther College newspaper of record, reporting on all significant events and people.
3. Chips remains a learning environment, offering students a cocurricular opportunity to explore and learn journalism, photojournalism, graphic design, publishing, marketing and related skills.
In addition to these principles, we will strive to bring in-depth, investigative reporting on the issues that matter to our readers.
We also wish to expand our abilities in the field of graphic design to continue to provide a visually appealing publication.
We will utilize our increasing online capabilities to expand upon available multimedia opportunities.
We recognize these principles and wish the community to know that we hold ourselves accountable to you for them.
We welcome your feedback throughout the year and appreciate the Luther community’s ongoing readership.
Let the chips fall where they may,
