Campus Security Capers

There have been a number of false fire alarms this fall including one that took place on Sept. 28. At about 11:20 p.m., someone pulled an alarm in the CFA. There was no sign of fire or smoke when officers responded. Witnesses saw a male wearing a white t-shirt and a red ball cap pull the alarm and run away. Since there did not appear to be any legitimate reason for the alarm, and I doubt it was some kind of performance art, security would certainly like to speak to the person who is responsible.

In the early morning of Sept. 29, a Luther security officer discovered a number of large rocks piled against the Dieseth exterior door. We are at a loss as to how the rocks got there but the location of said rocks restricted access to the building constituting a hazard. The officer moved the stones away to allow safe passage, so he is now a rock star in my book.

On Nov. 4 at about 10:22 p.m. someone threw a pumpkin off the roof of the CFL knocking a student to the ground as the airborne orb struck the front fork of the bike he was riding. Fortunately the student was not injured but he certainly could have been. If anyone has any information on who is responsible for this act please contact security.

Safety & Security Tip
When traveling home for the holidays, or anytime you are driving during the cold season, dress for the weather. If you are not comfortable wearing heavy clothes and footwear while driving, keep such items in your vehicle in the event you experience a breakdown. It is a good idea to make sure your cell phone is charged for the trip and let someone know your travel plans before your departure.
