Men’s soccer goes to nationals

After a record-breaking season, the men’s soccer team concluded the IIAC tournament on Nov. 5, losing 0-1 to Loras in the championship game.

SAAC gives back

The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is an organization that strives to involve Luther student athletes in community service projects on campus and in the Decorah area.
“Our biggest goal is to build community between Luther athletes, the Luther campus and Decorah as a whole,” SAAC vice president and basketball player Tyler Wedemeier (‘13) said.

The Luther College wrestling team will officially start its season Nov. 12, when the Norse host the Luther Open tournament.

Basketball season gears up

The men’s and women’s basketball seasons are officially underway as of Oct. 16.
The women are opening the 2011-12 season under a new coaching staff. Amanda Bailey has taken over the head coaching position, while Kim Voiles has taken the assistant coaching job. Bailey has been the assistant coach for the team for three years, but this is her first year as head coach.

Cross country teams second in IIAC

Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams placed 2nd in the IIAC Championships last Saturday.
Loras College won the team title in the men’s division with 53 points. Luther was close behind with 56 points, and Wartburg College took third with 79 points. Marty Mitchell (‘13), Austin Bauer (‘14), Shane Steele (‘12) and Evan Neubauer (‘13) earned all-conference honors.
