KWLC Music Review: Doomtree’s “No Kings”

It’s been an interesting few years for the Doomtree crew. Since the release of their first studio album, a self-titled effort which came out in 2008, all seven members of the Minneapolis-based hip-hop collective have put out albums consisting of either solo or collaborative material.

Luther College hosted a performance of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” Dec. 6 in the CFA. The performance was presented by TheatreWorksUSA, a company that focuses on theatre for young adults and families.

Local authors agree on importance of Mythology

Zeus, Thor, Jupiter, trolls, dragons, giants. Douglas “Dag” Rossman, local Decorah storyteller and author, says that it’s our imagination that makes these mythical creatures real.

“Mythology is a living system,” Rossman said. “You are not confined to the old stories of a thousand years ago, but myth speaks to us today. You can use the old characters in new ways that we understand today. It’s a trip into the imagination.”

Best Non-traditional Christmas Movies

As Christmas at Luther nears, the choirs are singing, the orchestra is playing and the handbells are ringing.

The Luther Ringers is a group of 13 experienced handbell players who come from a variety of backgrounds and interests.

“Journey to the Light” is the theme for the 30th annual Christmas at Luther production.

Associate Professor of Music and College Organist Gregory Peterson explained the creation of this year’s theme.
