“To have a learning environment that cultivates both a welcoming and challenging space, students need to feel like they are being supported and their needs are being met. I think that this is not happening with the current infrastructure in place. While I can understand the generosity of the substantial donation, I wonder about the opportunities for Luther College if more energy and monetary resources were put towards repairing and bolstering the current facilities around Luther to draw students to the valley but also to keep them here so Luther College can continue for years to come.”- Ella Heiks (’26)
“I am very grateful for this amazing gift of gratitude to Luther College. Although I am disappointed that the effects of this donation will likely not impact my time at Luther, I am excited for future students and the Luther community as a whole.” – Brooks Peterson (’26)
“I think it’s great for the athletics teams and for the campus’ overall health. I also know that certain parts of Regents are in need of a makeover, so for those reasons I am excited. I am nervous about how construction might affect availability to Regents, especially Legends gym. It’s also disappointing that we won’t be able to benefit from these donations during our time here at Luther. I also think It’s a great example of Luther’s amazing alumni and how much they care about the college and students.” – Karson Trujillo (’26)
“This is so incredibly exciting for all of us, and we are beyond grateful to Mike and his family for believing in us and this special place,”- Statement from Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Renae Hartl in November 27 press release.
“The recent investments in Luther by our graduates are symbolic of their journeys, and they call us toward our future. Mike and Dennis came to Luther in different generations, but they both received a broad-based education that grounded them in the ability to adapt and succeed. They share the same common thread of hard work up through the ranks, building their companies and careers, and now giving back so the next generation can benefit from that same Luther experience.” – Statement from President Jenifer K. Ward in November 27 press release.
